We only need to look at other mod-supported games on PC to see what this means for the company: titles like GTA 4 and Skyrim have enjoyed boosted sales for years because of mods, and there's no reason to think that a program like this can't keep Fallout 4 present in the same way. It may not be the wild west of mod support that we get through unofficial channels, but it still means a near-infinite amount of content for people across all platforms. Until, I found out that first Sony both denied the PS4 the most exiting thing to happen for consoles in a long time. This time (for me at least) Sony has won the console war.
So that "50X" stat not only means that people are indeed downloading mods for Fallout 4 in droves, but that they're doing so exclusively through official channels. This petition is to Free the Mod Support from the restrictions given to Fallout 4 & The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition by Sony PlayStation on PS4. Secondly, and more importantly, we assume here that Bethesda is talking about mod traffic on - not third party sites like Nexus. For one thing, many of these mods were originally designed for PC and migrated to Xbox One, so console users get to jump right into a more mature mod ecosystem.
It's a huge figure, but should be taken apart a little bit.
